This unique opportunity would suit individuals seeking a career in Secondary education, allowing them to gain invaluable experience, whilst working alongside qualified PE teaching staff. A summary of key duties will include: 

  • Supporting in the set up and clearing away of PE lessons and after school clubs 
  • Supporting administrative tasks, inclusive of setting up fixtures and inter school competitions 
  • Ongoing maintenance of school sports equipment and facilities 
  • Inspiring pupils to make informed and positive healthy lifestyle choices 
  • Ensuring the creation of fun, inclusive and safe activities at all times 
  • Acting as an ambassador for the school and PE department at all times, with high standards of professionalism 
  • Working alongside teaching staff to support the delivery of sport-specific activities and lessons 
  • Additional duties and administrative tasks may be required on occasions as consummate with the role. 

 

Desired skills 

Experience of working within a sporting, educational or administrative context would be advantageous, however a determination to see young people succeed is of the utmost importance. Strong problem solving, communication and team work skills will form a key element of the position, with the successful candidate anticipated to regularly utilise their skills in forward planning and initiative. The ability to work effectively as part of a team will form an essential part of this role; with the ability to adapt plans and have the foresight to potential obstacles being of paramount importance. 

Furthermore, an ability to motivate and inspire young people in striving toward their full potential will form an essential part of this role, with the ability to plan and adapt coaching sessions to keep them fun, engaging and exciting. Individuals with outstanding organisational skills are sought, however further training will be provided to support the long term development of the right candidate. 

 

Desired qualifications 

No formal qualifications are required as full training will be provided. It would however be advantageous for the successful applicant to have an interest in the Sport and Education sectors, in addition to previous coaching experience or activity leadership. National Governing Body (NGB) qualifications would be advantageous, however a passion for sport and critical eye for detail is essential. Please note that strong literacy and numeracy skills will also be attributes sought in the successful candidate as part of this exciting role.
