We have a team of Preparation for Life teachers for Years 7 – 9. Years 10 and 11 are taught on a rolling programme of lessons throughout the year. Years 12 and 13 are taught through their tutorial programme. All students access the Preparation for Life curriculum through 3 PSHE Days.
External bodies assist with the delivery of the programme. Their expertise brings extra support, advice and guidance for our students that is incredibly valuable. We have a diverse range of speakers and outside agencies that come in to talk to our students about different issues. These include:
- Devon and Cornwall Police
- Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service
- YZUP – drugs and alcohol awareness
- YAY Cornwall – LGBTQ+ support for young people
- Barnados – Healthy relationships
- Ronnie Richards Memorial Trust – CPR, AED and First Aid training
- Brook – sexual advisory service
- Penhaligons Friends – bereavement
- St John’s Ambulance
- CLEAR – Healthy Relationships workshops
- Invictus Trust
In addition, our annual careers fayre sees over 45 local to international employers share their experiences of the world of work with our students.
