Congratulations to all of our A Level students.
Years of study were rewarded today when students at The VI Form Academy at CSIA received their A-level results after a summer of anticipation.
The school is once again celebrating with a 100% pass rate across thirty-three courses, with 32% of grades being A*-A and 86% of grades being A*-C grades or equivalent. Students studying mathematics achieved nearly 50% A*-A grades. Students studying A-levels in Science subjects achieved 50% A*-B. In the vocational subjects, the average grade achieved was a Distinction*.
Among those with the most to celebrate were students Conor B who is going to Exeter University to read Mathematics after gaining A*, A*, A*, A*, A* in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Further Additional Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics and Mia F who gained A*, A*, A*, A* in Mathematics, Physics, Further Mathematics and Extended Project and has secured a place at Bath University to read Mathematics.
Conor commented, “I am so proud of my achievements!” Mia added, “I made a backup plan for today just in case something went wrong. I’m actually elated to have got 3 A* in Maths, Further Maths and Physics. My learning experience has been way better than I ever expected.”
Head Boy and Head Girl Cameron H and Martha R both gained top grades. Cameron gained A*AA grades in Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry and will be going to Bath University to study Biochemistry. Martha gained A*AB grades in Geography, Biology and History and a Distinction* in Health and Social Care, she will be taking up a place to read History and Politics at Exeter University. Martha said, “This morning I was anxious to get here, I didn’t even check UCAS to see if I have got in to Uni. I got my A in Biology and am over the moon! Thank you for all the support for my tutors at VI Form.”
Cameron commented, “I was nervous, shaking, but immediately calmed down when I say my friends collecting their results. I have had a great experience here at the VI Form Academy and wouldn’t be where I am without my tutors, Thanks so much.”
Ian Kenworthy, Principal at CSIA, said he was delighted with the 2018 results which reflected the “inspirational teaching” which occurs at The VI Form Academy every day.
“Students and staff deserve the highest praise and recognition for these results – we are all incredibly proud of our students’ ambitions and aspirations to achieve great things. These wonderful results are testament to their unwavering commitment, applying themselves to become the best they can possibly be.”
Vice Principal, Post-16, Sarah Belshaw, commented, “We work together to ensure our students thrive and flourish at The VI Form, and these results demonstrate our success. Our goal is not just to prepare them for exams and university, but also for employment and the real world. We believe that they will leave our academy as driven, resilient and well-rounded individuals who have very exciting futures ahead!”
CSIA is delighted with many outstanding individual A-level results including Betty Coupland who is going to London to read Medicine after gaining A*AAB in Extended Project, Biology, Religion, Philosophy & Ethics and Chemistry. She commented, “How was I this morning? Really worried! But now I’m really pleased it’s all paid off. I’m off to Kings College London to study Medicine. I had so much support when applying to Oxbridge. I’m lucky to have had such great tutors.”
Another impressive set of results were achieved by Jodie Grace-Smith who is going to Bath University to read Chemical Engineering, and achieved A*AA in Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
Aidan T received AAB grades in Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology and will be going to Bath University to study Chemistry with industrial placement.
Meghan L who achieved an A*AAB in Extended Project, Biology, Mathematics and Chemistry, will be reading Natural Sciences in France.
Nearly a third of VI form students have gained places at the prestigious Russell Group Universities.
Other high achievers with excellent A-level grades include:
- Orlah A with A*ABBC in English, Extended Project, Geography, Psychology and Biology and is looking forward to taking a gap year.
- Karenza V with A* in Product Design, Distinction* in IT, A in Mathematics and a B in Physics will be heading to Loughborough University to read Industrial Design and Technology.
- Ellis W has secured a prestigious apprenticeship with Pendennis Shipyard.
The VI Form Academy saw fantastic student success in the vocational subjects, including Blake Fisher and Ellis Whiteford who both gained Distinction*, Distinction*, Distinction in Sport. Charlotte Elliot with Distinction*, Distinction* in Sport and an A Level in Religion, Philosophy & Ethics. Chris Harvey-James with Distinction*, Distinction in Sport and an A Level in Psychology.
“There’s no doubt that the last two years have been challenging but our students have shown incredible maturity, fortitude and motivation, to accomplish exceptional results.” said Mrs Belshaw.
Mr Kenworthy added “As our students begin the next stage of their journey, taking up university places, beginning apprenticeships and for our year 12 students, returning to continue their A-level studies into year 13, we commend them all for such a terrific set of results. It is all testament to the hard work of students and The VI Form Academy community. We now look forward to next week’s GCSE results!”
