Returning to learning

We cannot wait to welcome back students to their learning.  In order to support learning, we will continue to follow our programme of study. However, we have made some adjustments to the remote learning provision on the week of the 8th.

There will be no ‘live lessons’ on the week of the 8th and instead, students will take part in consolidation activities designed to help them to review the learning which took place during lockdown and prepare for returning to lessons in the classroom.

We have also made significant changes to the Parent calendar – please see below:

11th March – Year 9 Options deadline

WB 22nd March – Year 13 Mock examinations

WB 26th April – Year 11 Mocks

WB 3rd May – Year 8 High stakes assessments

WB 10th May – Year 10 High stakes assessments

27th May – Year 11 Parents evening

WB 7th June – Year 8 Parents evening

WB 14th Jun – Year 7 End of Year assessments

WB 21st June – Year 9 End of Year assessments

1st July – Year 7 Parents evening

We hope that students have enjoyed their remote learning experience and we are incredibly proud of their achievements.  However, if you are concerned about your child’s academic experience during lockdown and feel that they may need additional support when they return, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s Year team.

Year 11 Assessment

This summer’s A Levels, GCSE and vocational qualifications will be awarded by teacher assessments based on a combination of mock examinations, coursework (if part of the course) and other internal or external assessments.

Students at CSIA have already sat one set of mock examinations and will sit a further, full set once we have returned to school.  For A Level this is the week commencing 22nd March and for GCSE a two week period commencing 26th April.  It is really important students work hard for these exams as we have to use the results, along with the other information, to inform our grades.  Results will be released on the 10th August for A Level and the 12th August for GCSE.  There will be a process to appeal the Teacher Assessed grades.  Students will remain in school until the middle/end June so we can continue teaching the content of their courses that they will need to finish and inform the grades we submit. Further information on this will follow at a later date.
