Extraordinary Experiences: Clubs and Activities Week
At Camborne Science and International Academy we are proud of the extraordinary young people who venture onwards to university and employment.
Our Extraordinary Experiences programme encourages all students to develop their skills and qualities through a diverse range of experiences – academically, socially and personally – outside of the usual classroom environment.
We offer opportunities for challenge, travel, character development and broadening horizons in a way which sets us apart from other schools in the UK. We value opportunities for students to develop and discover their interests and talents. Whatever the activity students will be building their character including their resilience, confidence and independence.
The activities below are in addition to our fantastic International Programme; faculty fieldtrips; university visits and our outstanding outdoor education provision. Our Duke of Edinburgh and Ten Tors provision will start for Years 9 – 13 after October half term. In the new year we will be hosting regular ‘Meet the Employer’ experiences where students can meet a number of employers from a focused field to have in-depth conversations about futures in that labour market.
Year 11 students will participate in a rolling intervention programme from 2.45 – 4pm. This will be communicated with you by the Year 11 team. Year 11 students are actively encouraged to embrace the after-school club programme as when they do not have intervention, they can access the activities available.
In addition in the summer term students will have the opportunity to participate in our annual activities and enrichment week which is designed to give our students the opportunity to try something new. It is a unique and positive time for all involved.
The clubs below are available until Christmas. Some activities will be limited in numbers due to the nature of the activity. There will be some activities where if students do not get their first choice activity for this term, they will be prioritised for that activity next term. Clubs will not run on the nights where we have open evenings, or parents evenings. For example, Thursday 16 September is our open evening and all staff will be welcoming parents and students from the primary schools.
We may need to amend or add to our provision as circumstances or official guidance changes. We will communicate any changes to staff, parents and students via ClassCharts. Any cancellations on the day due to staff absence will be communicated to you via text message.
