Pasty and a Quiz 2012

16 Nov. 2012 Posted by WillsR

It has been an exciting year in the VI Form with students eager to get involved in the newly introduced Student Committees. The first addition to the school calendar was the “2012 Pasty and Quiz Night” which was held on November 8th. The Committee responsible for making this spectacular event take place included Jordan Sheers, Alix Moore, Laura Weeks, Dan Thompson and David Fisher.

The Prizes

The Committee organised the venue, quiz questions, prizes, and refreshments. The prize fund was massive and included a £50 cash for the winning quiz team, an iPod, a selection of cakes donated by Prima Bakeries, books, Christmas decorations, and a £15 voucher donated by Smokey Joe’s.

A Community Event

Obviously, this was the event to be seen at this autumn season and the tickets sold like hot cakes. Over 120 tickets were sold and those who came included teachers, students, parents, friends and family. The Pasty and Quiz Night was brilliant because it was truly an occasion for the community.

The Fun

With the venue decorated with balloons, table cloths, and candy cocktails it was time for the fun to start. Tickets for the raffle were issued. Guests took their seats at the beautifully decorated tables. Copious litres of soft drinks were drunk. Prima Pastys were munched. Questions were asked. Answers were given. The night went without a hitch and everyone was visibly entertained by the quiz master Jordan Sheers. All the quiz teams left with their heads held high, and some with their pockets bulging with prizes.

Lyn Green (VI Form Pastoral Support) said it was “One of the most friendly and organised events I have ever attended in school”.

The Future

This event was inspirational and reflected the real world abilities of VI Formers. There are lots of plans for the future including a rock mime, Christmas social, and Summer Ball to name but a few. Keep your eyes open for the next opportunity.
