Exceptional results for Camborne VI Form students!

19 Aug. 2016 Posted by WillsR

Cheers of jubilation were in the air at Cornwall’s top performing state school today as VI Form students at Camborne Science and International Academy opened their A-level and AS results after a summer of anticipation. The school is once again celebrating remarkable A-level results with 100% pass rate across its range of twenty three A-level courses, with 58% of grades being A*-B grades or equivalent. Mathematics and Sciences are the most popular choices at A- level in the VI Form and deservedly so, with students studying Mathematics achieving 83% A*-B and those studying Science subjects achieving 62% A*-B. In the vocational subjects, the average grade achieved was a Distinction*.

Ian Kenworthy, Principal at CSIA, said he was thrilled with the 2016 results which reflected the dedication and hard work of students and staff, inspirational teaching and an ongoing focus for each student to reach their potential.

“It has been an incredible day filled with pride, fulfilment and celebration. The magnificent results are testament to the commitment of our students, who applied themselves to become the best that they can possibly be.”

“Our students are a group of highly dedicated and motivated young adults who richly deserve these terrific results. Our goal is not just to prepare them for exams and university, but also for employment and the real world. They leave our academy as driven, resilient and well-rounded individuals who are set for great things.”

20% of the academy students have gained places at the top Russell Group Universities compared to the national average of just 8%.

CSIA is delighted with many outstanding individual A-level results including Emily Y who is going to Birmingham University to read English, and achieved A*,A*, A. She commented “I'm over the moon with my results. I can't believe it!“.

“These results are absolutely fantastic and our students’ achievements must be very warmly congratulated” commented Mr Kenworthy. “This year group has also made a very strong contribution to the wider life of the school and we thank them for their goodwill and positive influence across the academy.”

Vice Principal, Sarah Belshaw, praised the work ethic of all VI Form students. “There’s no doubt that the last two years have been challenging but they have shown incredible maturity, fortitude and motivation, to accomplish exceptional results.”

Students congratulated one another as they opened their results envelopes, with staff sharing in the celebrations, smiling for photographs and cheering.

“These results very much reflect the endeavour of a fantastic group of young people with very bright futures ahead of them” added Ms Belshaw. “There’s nothing better than seeing students who’ve worked so hard to achieve the results they wanted. For some, it’s the end of a seven year partnership and it’s wonderful to see their success - leaving CSIA to make their mark on the world.”
